Background: The British Film Commission was established by the Government in 1991 to promote the UK as a film production centre to the international film and television industries (it was subsumed into the UK Film Council in 2003). Working within a small team, I developed and implemented marketing initiatives and events targeting overseas filmmakers.


Marketing strategies/campaigns:

  • Researching, writing and implementing marketing strategies and campaigns

Print and publications management:

  • Managing design, editorial, production and distribution of publications
  • Creating marketing materials and merchandise to support events activity

Press and publicity:

  • Preparing materials for campaigns
  • Liaising with UK and international press

Events management:

  • Devising and managing events in the UK and abroad
  • Developing programmes, recruiting speakers and managing all logistics


  • 'Production Conference' - for UK's film production sector, addressing latest issues and discussing new ways of working together
  • 'UK in NY' - taking UK delegation to New York to run workshops for local film industry and provide opportunities for collaborative projects
  • 'LA Roadshow' - taking UK delegation on three-week roadshow at top Hollywood film studios bringing industry expertise to a key market

Website redevelopment:

  • Drawing up brief, creating wireframes, managing design, content and development process, liaising with contributors and maintaining site through CMS

Brand management:

  • Creating new brand identity for British Film Commission - logo, strapline and marketing materials

Budget management:

  • Managing project budgets, raising event sponsorship through tailor-made packages and negotiating competitive prices
